Founded in 1964 by John and Ted van Zutphen, Zutphen Contractors Inc. is one of the largest heavy civil and marine construction contractors in Nova Scotia. Zutphen is now owned and operated by the second generation, Vincent, Leonard and Harvey van Zutphen.

Zutphen employs over 100 full-time employees, and that often doubles during peak construction season. Our main facility is located in Southwest Mabou, Nova Scotia.

The facility is a 17,000 ft² building that includes both administrative offices and a six-bay heavy equipment repair and welding shop.

 

Zutphen operates throughout the Maritime provinces, utilizing local suppliers and talent at every opportunity. We have strong relationships with over 2,000 local vendors in Nova Scotia and most of our employees are home-grown, Cape Breton residents, trained in skilled trades.
